5月12日的《卫报》头版下方的文章是驻中国记者安玲 (Tania Branigan)从绵阳发回的报道《爱在废墟中盛开》(One year on, love flourishes amid the ruins of Sichuan)，说得是地震幸存者朱云翠和尹华军重新组织家庭的故事(译言翻译)。这是英国报纸中唯一一份在头版刊登四川地震周年纪念的报纸，安玲的报道选择的角度，在英国的报道中也是独特的。同一个故事除了文字报道，《卫报》还制作了一部约3分多钟的视频。在内部跨幅刊登的是在北川的废墟上祭奠烧纸钱的照片。同一天《卫报》的社论中说，提到四川，英语读者想到的就是地震，但其实四川一直是一个人杰地灵的地方。
英国的其它报纸在四川地震一周年之际也做了一些相应的报道，侧重点大部份在灾区重建和幸存者的坚强和勇气上。但在人性故事和多媒体运用上，安玲的报道还是最突出的。
《金融时报》有自己的独家报道，报纸驻北京记者 Jamil Anderlini 在采访幸存者时，被当地官员制止和驱逐。
